Sister Patricia Schaefer, IHM
January 10, 1945 – July 4, 1977

Sister Patricia Schaefer, IHM, (formerly known as Sister Christine Marie) of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Monday, July 4, 1977, at Bryn Mawr Hospital, in Bryn Mawr, PA.
She was born on January 10, 1945 in Pittsburgh, PA, and given the name Patricia Anne. She was the daughter of James Otto and Agnes Stack Schaefer. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1963, received the religious habit on June 27, 1964, and made profession of her vows in on June 27, 1966.
Sister Patricia served as a teacher in the areas of science, math, and religion at the IHM Academy in Coeur d’Alene, ID, from 1968 to 1971, and at Most Holy Rosary High School in Syracuse, NY, from 1971 to 1977.
She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry from Marywood College, and was a member of the National Science Teachers’ Association.
In addition to her parents, she is also survived by three brothers, James, Mark and Paul; a sister, Christine Schaefer; an aunt in community, Sister Virginia Mary Schaefer, IHM; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral will be Thursday, July 7, at 9:30 a.m. at the IHM Generalate in Scranton, with interment to follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, PA. Friends may call on Wednesday at the Marian Convent in Scranton.
