Sister Mary Ida Campbell, IHM

June 24, 1890 – February 14, 1938

Sister Mary Ida Campbell, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Monday, February 14, 1938 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Carbondale, PA.

She was born on June 23, 1890 in Hanover Township, PA, and given the name Rose P. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Rose Mohan Campbell. She entered the IHM Congregation on August 15, 1909, received the religious habit on December 29, 1909, and made profession of her vows on December 27, 1911.

Sister Mary Ida served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Cecilia Academy in Scranton, PA; St. Rosalia School in Pittsburgh, PA; St. John the Evangelist School in Pittston, PA; and St. Peter of Alcantara School in Port Washington, NY.

From 1936 until the time of her death, Sister Mary Ida served as a prayer minister.

She was preceded in death by a two brothers, Patrick and Daniel Joseph, and a sister, Jennie.

She is survived by three brothers, Anthony, Jr., of Wilkes-Barre, PA, Donald J. (D.J.) of Cleveland, Ohio, and James Henry of Hanover Township, PA; a sister, Sister Mary Perpetua, SJ, of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Erie, PA; and a nephew, James Leonard Campbell of Wilkes-Barre, PA.

The funeral will be Thursday, Febraury 17 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church in Moscow, PA. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call on Wednesday at St. Agnes Place in Elmhurst, PA.
