Sister Mary Carmel Beyer, IHM

Sister Mary Carmel Beyer, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Monday, September 23, 1968 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
She was born on February 1, 1894 in Fort Lee, New Jersey, and given the name Irene Florence. She was the of the late Philip and Elizabeth Colenof Beyer. She entered the IHM Congregation on March 25, 1918, received the religious habit on August 5, 1918, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1920.
Sister Mary Carmel served as a commercial teacher at the following schools: Holy Rosary High School in Scranton, from 1919 to 1920; St. Patrick High School in Scranton, from 1920 to 1923; St. Bernard Parochial School in Hastings, from 1923 to 1925; St. Alphonsus High School in New York, from 1925 to 1945; and St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay, NY, from 1945 to 1965.
From 1966 until the time of her death, Sister Mary Carmel served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.
