Sister Marie Immaculée Sardegna, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Thursday, February 17, 2000, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA.

She was born on December 8, 1928, in Scranton, PA, and given the name Geramine. She was the daughter of the late Samuel (Salvador) J. and Marie Manley Sardegna. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1950, made temporary profession of her vows on August 2, 1952, and final profession of her vows on August 2, 1955.

Sister Marie Immaculee served as a teacher at the following schools: Monsignor McHugh Elementary School in Cresco, PA, from 1969 to 1972; St. Patrick Elementary School, Scranton, PA, from 1972 to 1975; Most Holy Rosary Elementary School in Syracuse, NY; and St. Mary of the Assumption Elementary School in Upper Marlboro, MD.

From 1992 until time time of her death, Sister Marie Immaculee taught at St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Binghamton, NY.

Sister also served as a catechetical instructor at St. Ignatius Parish, Kingston, PA, from 1952 to 1953

She received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education, and a Master of Science degree in elementary education, both from Marywood College.

She was preceded in death by a brother, William.

She is survived by a brother, Richard of Partlow, VA; nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be Tuesday, February 22, at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent, followed by interment at St. Catherine Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may call on Monday between 2:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the Marian Convent.
