Sister M. Vincentia O’Boyle, IHM

August 10, 1870 – September 3, 1918

Sister M. Vincentia O’Boyle, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, September 3, 1918.

She was born on August 10, 1870 in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, and given the name Ellen. She was the daughter of Mary McNelis O’Boyle, and the late Cornelius (Condy) O’Boyle. She entered the IHM Congregaion on March 23, 1897, received the religious habit on July 24, 1897, and made profession of her vows on July 15, 1899.

She is preceded in death by three brothers, Philip, William Francis and Michael J., and three sisters, Mary Ann Fallon, Cecilia Theresa McGill and Grace Reed.

In addition to her mother, Mary of Freeland, PA, she is also survived by three brothers, Hugh Patrick of Philadelphia, PA, Charles James of Scranton, PA, and Condy J. of Freeland, PA, nieces and nephews.

Interment is at the Marywood College Cemetery, on the grounds of Marywood College in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

“On September 3, 1918, God called to Himself a faithful laborer in His vineyard, Sister M. Vincentia O’Boyle. In many of our communities, Martha-like, she had ministered to the wants and necessities of the Sisters and had combined with her various duties a spirit of ceaseless prayer.”
