Sister M. Vincentia Boyle, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, September 3, 1918, at Sacred Heart Convent in Pittston, PA.
She was born on August 10, 1870 in Hazleton, PA, and given the name Ellen (Ella). She was the daughter of Mary McNelis Boyle, and the late Cornelius (Condy) J. Boyle. She entered the IHM Congregaion on March 23, 1897, received the religious habit on July 24, 1897, and made profession of her vows on July 15, 1899.
Sister Vincentia served as a teacher at Immaculate Conception Elementary School in West Pittston, PA.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Philip, William Francis and Michael J.; and three sisters, Mary Ann Fallon, Cecilia Theresa McGill and Grace Reed.
In addition to her mother, Mary Boyle of Freeland, PA, she is also survived by three brothers, Hugh Patrick of Philadelphia, PA, Charles James of Scranton, PA, and Condy J. (C.J.), Jr. of Freeland, PA, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday, September 6 at 9:30 a.m. at Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary in Scranton, PA. Interment will follow at the Marywood College Cemetery, on the grounds of Marywood College, Scranton.
