Sister M. Stanislaus O’Donnell, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Friday, September 13, 1974, at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton, PA.
She was born on September 12, 1888 in Scranton, PA, and given the name Grace Marie. She was the daughter of the late Michael B. and Bridget Mulqueen O’Donnell. She entered the IHM Congregation on March 25, 1918, received the religious habit on August 5, 1918, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1920.
Sister Stanislaus served as a teacher in the following schools: St. John School in Susquehanna, PA; St. Alphonsus School in New York, NY; St. Rose School in Carbondale, PA; St. John the Evangelist School in Pittston, PA; St. Mary of the Mount School in Pittsburgh, PA; St. Ann School in Nyack, NY; and St. Dominic School in Oyster Bay, NY.
From 1971 until the time of her death, Sister Stanislaus was a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Francis and Joseph Patrick.
She is survived by a sister, Hannah White of Denver, CO; and several nieces and nephews, including Claire J. Harper of Dunmore, PA.
The funeral will be Monday, September 16, at 9:30 a.m. at the Marian Convent in Scranton, followed by interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, PA. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Saturday after 4:30 p.m. and all day Sunday.
