Sister M. Robertine Fox, IHM

Sister M. Robertine Fox, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Saturday, August 11, 2001 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
She was born on September 4, 1919 in Syracuse, NY, and given the name Catherine Rita. She was the daughter of the late John A. and Marie E. Glynn Fox. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1938, made temporary profession of her vows on May 8, 1941, and final profession of her vows on August 1, 1944.
Sister Robertine served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Paul High School in Scranton, PA; Bishop Hannon High School in Scranton, PA; Bishop O’ Reilly High School in Kingston, PA; St. Thomas High School in Providence, RI; Mother of Mercy High School in Washington, NC; Most Holy Rosary High School in Syracuse, NY; Holy Cross High School in Delran, NJ; as well as at high schools located in Baltimore, MD.
Sister Robertine also served as a catechetical teacher at St. Agnes Catechetical Center in Forest City, PA 1984 to 1985; regional superior for the IHM Congregation from 1964 to 1968; support services at the IHM Center in Scranton, PA, from 1988 to 1999.
From 1999 until the time of her death, she served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.
She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Marywood College, and a Master of Arts degree in French from the Villanova University. She held memberships in the National Association of American Teachers of French and in the Pennsylvania Association of Teachers of Foreign Languages.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Alice Virginia Fox, Mary Veronica Fox, and Ruth Parkinson, and two brothers, Donald F. and John T.
She is survived by four sisters, Sister M. Donelda, IHM of Scranton, PA, Marie Therese McCarthy of Syracuse, NY, Jeanne A. Crowell of Fairport, NY, Helene E. Herlehy of Camillus, NY, a brother, Ralph R. of Syracuse, NY, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Tuesday, August 14 at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent, followed by interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Monday between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
