Sister M. Regina O’Neill, IHM

Sister M. Regina O’Neill, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Friday, July 12, 1946, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Carbondale, PA.
She was born on March 29, 1868 in Pleasant Mount, PA, and given the name Teresa. She was the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Mary Cronan O’Neill. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1887, received the religious habit on March 6, 1888, and made profession of her vows on April 8, 1890.
Sister Regina served as the superior at a convent in Coeur d’Alene, ID; St. Cecilia Academy in Scranton, PA; St. Joseph’s Maternity House in Scranton, PA, from 1937 to 1943; and St. Rose Convent in Carbondale, PA, from 1943 until the time of her death. She was also stationed at other convents within the Diocese of Scranton.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Sister Mary Regina O’Neill, IHM, and a brother, Henry.
She is survived by a sister, Matilda McCormick of Forest City, PA; and nieces and nephews, including Sister M. Germaine McCormick, IHM.
The funeral will be Monday, July 15, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Rose’s Church, Carbondale, followed by internment at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery in Greenfield Township, PA.
