Sister M. Prudentia Warren, IHM

March 22, 1902 – December 18, 1982

Sister M. Prudentia Warren, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Saturday, December 18, 1982, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an extended illness.

Born on March 22, 1902 in Rochester, New York, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret Agnes Lynch Warren. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1925, received the religious habit on August 15, 1925, and made profession of her vows on August 15, 1927.

In her long teaching career, Sister Prudentia taught commercial subjects, French and social studies the following schools: Most Holy Rosary in Syracuse, NY; St. Dominic in Oyster Bay, NY; Holy Rosary in Scranton, PA; St. Patrick in Olyphant, PA; as well as schools located in New York City, NY and Pittsburgh, PA.

Sister Prudentia also served as a secretary at the IHM Generalate in Scranton, from 1969 to 1977.

From 1977 until the time of her death, she served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She is survived by sister, Mrs. Mary Kaimer; and a niece, Mrs. Demison Baxter, both of Rochester, NY.

The funeral will be Tuesday, December 21 at the Marian Convent Chapel with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Monday afternoon or evening.
