Sister M. Majella Cawley, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died on Monday, November 2, 1925 at an IHM Convent in Pittsburgh, PA.
She was born on December 26, 1886 in Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, PA, and given the name Isabella D. (Isabel). She was the daughter of Michael J. and Catherine Doherty Cawley. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1904, received the religious habit on August 15, 1905, and made profession of her vows on July 16, 1907.
Sister Majella served as a teacher at Holy Rosary School in Scranton, PA; St. Patrick School in Scranton, PA; St. Patrick School in Olyphant, PA; St. John School in Susquehanna, PA; and at schools located in Pittsburgh, PA.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Michael J. Jr., Patrick and Andrew.
She is survived by a brother, John; a sister, Mary; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday, November 5 at 10 a.m. in the Marywood College Chapel in Scranton, PA, followed by interment in the Marywood College Cemetery.
