Sister M. Laura Lavezzo, IHM

Sister M. Laura Lavezzo, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Saturday, March 18, 1972, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA.
She was born on June 25, 1895 in New York, NY, and given the name Anna. She was the daughter of the late Peter (Pietro) and Angela Cuneo Lavezzo. She entered the IHM Congregation on May 5, 1919, received the religious habit on December 27, 1919, and made profession of her vows on December 29, 1921.
Sister Laura served as a secretary in the school office at St. Michael’s Industrial School for Boys in Hoban Heights, PA, from 1922 to 1957.
Sister also served in the business office of the IHM Congregation in Scranton, PA, from 1957 to 1971.
From 1971 until the time of her death, Sister Laura served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, August and Anthony, and two sisters, Sister Holy Innocent, RGS, and Sister Laura, RGS.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews in New York City, NY.
The funeral will be Tuesday, March 21 at 9:30 a.m. at the Marian Convent, followed by interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may call on Sunday and Monday at the Marian Convent.
