Sister M. Joycelin Ennis, IHM

Sister M. Joycelin Ennis, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died on Tuesday, August 28, 1978, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA.
She was born on April 24, 1914 in Scranton, PA, and given the name Mary. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Tighe Ennis. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1932, received the religious habit on April 24, 1933, and made profession of her first vows on April 30, 1935.
Sister Joycelin served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Mary Elementary School in Avoca, PA; St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School in Archbald, PA; St. Paul Elementary School in Cranston, RI; and St. Rose Elementary School in Carbodale, PA. She also taught at schools located in Maryland and on Long Island, NY.
Sister served as a catechetical teacher at Holy Name of Mary Catechetical Center in Montrose, PA.
From 1962 until the time of her death, Sister Joycelin served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.
She is survived by several cousins, including Mrs. Bernard Scanlon of Scranton, PA.
The funeral will be Thursday, August 30, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at the Marian Convent. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may call at the Marian Convent Wednesday afternoon or evening.
