Sister M. Joachim Lane, IHM

Sister M. Joachim Lane, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, November 30, 1976, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA.
She was born on June 16, 1890 in Lopez, PA, and given the name Margaret. She was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Dorsey Lane. She entered the IHM Congregation on December 8, 1909, received the religious habit on October 15, 1910, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1912.
Sister Joachim served as a teacher in the following schools: All Saints Elementary School in Masontown, PA; St. Mary Elementary School in Patton, PA; St. Justin Elementary School in Pittsburgh, PA; St. Paul Elementary School in Cranston, RI; St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Bellefonte, PA; Holy Name of Mary Elementary School in Jermyn, PA; St. Ann Elementary School in Scranton, PA; St. Paul Elementary School in Scranton, PA; St. Peter Cathedral Elementary School in Scranton, PA; and St. Cecilia Elementary School in Exeter, PA.
From 1971 until the time of her death, Sister Joachim served in prayer ministry at the Marian Convent.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis and James, a sister, Mary Harrington, and an aunt in community, Sister M. Joachim Dorsey, IHM.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Molly Lane of Dushore, PA, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday, December 1 at 9:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent, followed by interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may call on Tuesday after 5:00 p.m and all day on Wednesday at the Marian Convent.
