Sister M. Grace Marie McCarthy, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, August 21, 1928.
She was born on December 27, 1900, in Renovo, PA, and given the name Mary Pauline. She was the daughter of James P. and Catherine Lane McCarthy. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1922, received the religious habit on December 28, 1922, and made profession of her vows on December 29, 1924.
Sister Grace Marie enjoyed teaching children in our IHM mission schools.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen (infant).
She is survived by two sisters, Grace Elizabeth (to later become Sister Mary Grace, IHM) and Catherine Simon; and a brother, John, all of Renovo, PA.
Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, PA.
Archival Remembrance:
Sister Grace Marie, who died in the early years of her religious profession, spent her short time in ministry teaching the middle grades. Her personal gifts were those of a strong person: prayerfulness, generosity, patience in suffering and a sense of humor.
