Sister M. Germana Radley, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, August 3, 1954, at St. Joseph’s Childrens and Maternity Hospital in Scranton, PA.
She was born on October 9, 1918 in Pittsburgh, PA, and given the name Dorothy. She was the daughter of Mary Margaret McGeary Radley and the late Howard Patrick Radley. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1937, received the religious habit on May 2, 1938, and made profession of her vows on May 7, 1940.
Sister Germana served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Bernard Elementary School in Hastings, PA; St. Monica Elementary School in Raleigh, NC; Our Lady of Mercy Elementary School in Washington, NC; St. Peter Cathedral Chapel School in Scranton, PA; and St. Joseph Elementary School in Renovo, PA.
Sister also served in child care for resident children at St. Joseph’s Childrens and Maternity Hospital in Scranton, PA.
She was preceded in death by a brother James A., and a first cousin in community, Sister M. Aquin O’Brien, IHM.
In addition to her mother, she is also survived by three brothers, Reverend John, C.Ss.R., stationed in Mayuzues, Puerto Rico; Reverend Thomas, C.Ss.R., stationed at Holy Redeemer Church in New York City, NY; and Howard Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA; and a sister, Elizabeth Roth of Pittsburgh, PA.
The funeral will be Friday, August 6, at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel at St. Joseph’s Childrens and Maternity Hospital in Scranton, followed by interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA.
