Sister M. Geraldine Farrell, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Friday, March 17, 1922, at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Scranton, PA.
She was born on May 6, 1869 in Carbondale, PA, and given the name Mary. She was the daughter of the late James and Mary Peale Farrell. She entered the IHM Congregation on March 19, 1894, received the religious habit on January 1, 1895, and made profession of her vows on February 2, 1897.
Sister Geraldine served as a teacher at St. Patrick Elementary School in Scranton, PA, and St. Mary Elementary School in Hollidaysburg, PA.
She is survived by five sisters, Sister Germaine, of the Sisters of Charity, of Albany, NY; Catherine Furey of Emira, NY; Lucy Vaughey, Margaret Williams, and Ella, all of Carbondale, PA; a brother, John of Carbondale, PA; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday, March 20 at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Scranton, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Carbondale, PA.
