Sister M. Casimira Kent, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Monday, October 26, 1992, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA.

She was born on January 7, 1914 in Susquehanna, PA, and given the name Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Boyle Kent. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 7, 1931, received the religious habit on April 21, 1932, and made profession of her vows on April 24, 1934.

Sister Casimira served as a teacher of primary and intermediate grades at the following local schools: St. Mary Elementary School in Avoca, PA; St. Patrick Elementary School in Scranton, PA; St. Peter Cathedral Elementary School in Scranton, PA; St. Rose Elementary School in Carbondale, PA; and St. Basil Elementary School in Dushore, PA. She also taught at elementary schools located in New York, Connecticut, Maryland and Delaware.

From 1975 until the time of her death, Sister Casimira served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Joseph, and two sisters, Rose and Eileen Kent.

She is survived by several cousins, including Doris Lannon of Hallstead, PA, and Louise Kane of Binghamton, NY.

The funeral will be Tuesday, October 27 with Mass of Christian Burial at 7:30 p.m. at the Marian Convent Chapel. Interment will be Wednesday at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may call on Tuesday between 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Marian Convent.
