Sister M. Carmelita Charette, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Thursday, June 25, 1936, at St. Agnes Place in Elmhurst, PA.
She was born on March 19, 1908 in Centerdale, RI, and given the name Ida Marie. She was the daughter of the Philip and Roseanna Bellanger Charette. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 7, 1929, received the religious habit on April 21, 1930, and made profession of her vows on April 21, 1932.
Sister Carmelita served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Mary Elementary School in Goldsboro, NC; Our Lady of Mount Carmel Elementary School in Asbury Park, NJ; and St. Mary Elementary School in Avoca, PA.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Paul T. and Albert, and six sisters, Leda, Bertha, Antoinette, Evanne, Bernadette and Arline.
The funeral will be Saturday, June 27 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church in Moscow, PA. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call at St. Agnes Place on Friday afternoon.
