Sister M. Benedict Broderick, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Sunday, January 31, 1932 in Renovo, PA.

She was born on April 21, 1869 in Cherry Ridge, PA, and given the name Catherine. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna O’Donnell Broderick. She entered the IHM Congregation on August 2, 1904, received the religious habit on December 8, 1904, and made profession of her vows on December 27, 1906.

Sister Benedict served as a teacher at the following schools: St. John the Evangelist School in Scranton, PA; IHM Academy in Couer d’Alene, ID; St. Rosalia School in Pittsburgh, PA; and St. Joseph School in Renovo, PA.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Frank, and a sister, Nellie O’Driscoll.

She is survived by two sisters, Anna Broderick and Mary C. Broderick Richardson, of Hawley, PA; a brother, Thomas; nieces and nephews.

After services in Renovo, the body will be removed to St. Agnes Place, Elmhurst, PA. A solemn Requiem Mass will be sung on Wednesday, February 3 at 9:30 o’clock in St. Catherine’s Church, Moscow, PA, with interment to follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.
