Sister M. Ann Scanlon, IHM

Sister M. Ann Scanlon, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Sunday, November 7, 1926, at Marywood College in Scranton, PA.
She was born on October 8, 1864, in Carbondale, PA, and given the name Mary. She was the daughter of the late John and Catharine Nealon Scanlon. She entered the IHM Congregation on July 23, 1888, received the religious habit on December 27, 1888, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1891.
Sister Ann was a teacher at the following schools: St. Cecilia Academy in Scranton, PA; St. John the Evangelist School in Scranton, PA; St. Patrick School in Scranton, PA; and St. Alphonsus School in New York City, NY.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John Jr., and a sister, Nellie Scanlon.
She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Anthony Convy of Carbondale, PA; two brothers, Patrick of Scranton, PA, and Thomas of Kansas City, MO; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Tuesday, November 9, at 9:30 a.m. with a high mass of requiem to be celebrated in the chapel at Marywood College. Interment will follow at the Marywood College Cemetery, on the grounds of Marywood College in Scranton, PA.
