Sister Elizabeth Ann Buschman, IHM

November 7, 1936 – August 19, 1981

Sister Elizabeth Ann Buschman, IHM, (formerly kown as Sister St. Richard) of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Wednesday, August 19, 1981, at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD.

Born on November 7, 1936, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of George J. and Anna Lange Buschman. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 7, 1954, received the religious habit on August 2, 1955, and made profession of her vows on August 3, 1957.

Sister Elizabeth served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Patrick Elementary School in Oneida, NY, from 1957 to 1959; St. Thomas Regional School in Providence, RI, from 1959 to 1969; Our Lady Mt. Carmel Elementary School in Asbury Park, NJ, from 1969 to 1974; and Our Lady of Peace Elementary School in Clark’s Green, PA, from 1975 to 1976.

From 1976 until the time of her death, Sister Elizabeth was a teacher at St. Matthew Elementary School in Wilmington, DE.

In addition to her parents, she is also survived by two brothers, Richard Buschman of Waldorf, MD, and George Buschman, Jr. of Millersville, MD; two sisters, Mary Jeanne Nason, Sykesville, MD, and Dorothy Watkins, Baltimore, MD; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Saturday, August 22, at 11:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at St. Matthew’s Church, Wilmington, DE. Interment will be on Monday at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may call on Thursday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at St. Agnes Convent, 603 Saint Agnes Lane, Baltimore, MD.
