Sister Consolata Maria Hedderson, IHM

Sister Consolata Maria Hedderson, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Thursday, December 12, 1974, at Mercy Hospital in Scranton, PA.
She was born on May 7, 1908 in Brooklyn, NY, and given the name Mary Catherine. She was the daughter of the late John J. and Mary Theresa Curran Hedderson. She entered the IHM Congregation on August 13, 1927, received the religious habit on December 29, 1927, and made profession of her vows on December 27, 1929.
Sister Consolata Maria served as a teacher in the following schools: Epiphany Elementary School in Sayre, PA, in 1930; St. Paul School in Cranston, RI, from 1930 to 1934; Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Elementary School in New York, NY, from 1934 to 1936; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Elementary School n Altoona, PA, from 1936 to 1946; St. Patrick Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1946 to 1948; St. John Elementary School in Susquehanna, PA, from 1948 to 1950; St. Bernadine Elementary School in Baltimore, MD, from 1954 to 1964; St. Mary of the Mount in Pittsburgh Elementary School in Pittsburgh, PA, from 1964 to 1965; St. John the Baptist Elementary School in Pittsburgh, PA, from 1966 to 1967; Nativity of Our Lord Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1967 to 1968; St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Binghamton, NY, from 1968 to 1969; and St. Rose Elementary School in Carbondale, PA from 1969 to 1974.
From 1974 until the time of her death, Sister Consolata Maria served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Loretta (infant) and Beatrice.
She is survived by three brothers, John J. and George of California, and Thomas F. of New York, and two sisters, Anna Gless of New York and Rita Martin of New Jersey, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday, December 14 at 9:30 a.m. at the Marian Convent in Scranton, followed by interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, PA. Friends may call on Friday after 2:00 p.m. at the Marian Convent.
