Sister Anne McDonald, IHM

Sister Anne McDonald, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Thursday, July 4, as a result of a fatal car accident.
She was born on July 28, 1950, in Carbondale, PA. She was the daughter of the late John F. and Ruth DeLoskey McDonald. She entered the IHM Congregation on August 24, 1969, and made her temporary profession of vows on June 4, 1972, and her final profession of vows on August 23, 1975. Sister Anne received certification as a nurse’s aide from St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Sister Anne served as a physical therapy technician at Marian Community Hospital in Carbondale, PA, from 1972 to 2012, and a volunteer at Catholic Social Services in Carbondale, PA, from 2012 to 2016. From 2012 until the time of her death, Sister Anne was a physical therapy aide at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton, PA, and also an assistant with the Relief Assistance Program of Catholic Social Services in Carbondale, PA.
Sister Anne was a loving and faithful daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, and friend. Her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews brought a smile to her face. Sister Anne’s affection and humor were a source of joy for those who knew and loved her and for those whom she served.
She was preceded in death by three brothers Robert, James, and John, and two sisters, Barbara Crusciel and Margaret Littman.
Sister Anne is survived by two brothers, Joseph of Carbondale, PA, and Thomas of Jermyn, PA; nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews. She is also survived by the members of the IHM Congregation.
The funeral will be Thursday, July 11, at 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the IHM Center, 1512 University Avenue in Dunmore, PA. Friends may call at the IHM Center on Wednesday, July 10, between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Interment will follow Mass on Thursday at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery (Finch Hill), 412 PA-106, Greenfield Township, PA.
