Students Help with Planting

Students from Our Lady of Peace School come to OLP Residence and the IHM Center for an afternoon of community service.

On May 16, students from the 8th grade of Our Lady of Peace School celebrated their
annual May Crowning Mass at The Church of St. Gregory in Clarks Green. As is their
custom, the students head out to offer some community service in the afternoon. This
year thirty-two 8th grade students and a few of their moms came to the IHM Welcoming Space/Land Restoration and Our Lady of Peace Residence to offer their service and their beautiful presence. Jan Novotka, Sisters Kieran Williams and Donna Korba, were joined by Carolann Hazelton in planning and participating in activities with the students.

Sister Kieran Williams even attended their May Crowning Mass and had it live-streamed so sisters who had previously taught at the school might be able to watch. Some students joined our Sisters at Our Lady of Peace Residence for an afternoon of cards, corn hole, Uno and other engaging games. Other students planted flowers at the IHM Peace Pole, the grotto of Our Lady, and in front of the IHM Center. Toward the end of the afternoon, everyone gathered in the dining room at OLP to share ice cream and good conversation. A good day was had by all!
