Sister M. Virgilius Bohan, IHM

February 15, 1897 – January 8, 1935

Sister M. Virgilius Bohan, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, January 8, 1935 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Carbondale, PA.

She was born on February 15, 1897 in Pittston, PA, and given the name Margaret. She was the daughter of Cormac Bohan and the late Mary Kearney Bohan. She entered the IHM Congregation on January 6, 1917, received the religious habit on August 2, 1917, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1919.

Sister Virgilius served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Ann High School in Scranton, PA; Holy Rosary School in Syracuse, NY; and St. Dominic School in Oyster Bay, NY.

In addition to her father, Cormac Bohan of Pittston, PA, she is also survived by two sisters, Regina Bohan of Scranton, PA, and Sister M. Cormac, IHM, a teacher at Holy Rosary School in Scranton, PA; three brothers, William of Scranton, PA, Maurice of Binghamton, NY, and Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be on Thursday, January 10 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Catherine’s Church, Moscow, PA. Interment will follow in St. Catherine’s Cemtery, Moscow.
