Sister M. Paulus Eagan, IHM

August 27, 1884 – March 9, 1921

Sister M. Paulus Eagan, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Wednesday, March 9, 1921, at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

She was born on August 27, 1884 in Plymouth, PA, and given the name Mary. She was the daughter of Mary Flynn Eagan and the late Patrick F. Eagan. She entered the IHM Congregation on July 2, 1914, received the religious habit on July 6, 1915, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1917.

Sister Paulus served in child care for resident children and teacher at St. Patrick’s Orphanage in Scranton, PA.

In addition to her mother, Mary Eagan of WIlkes-Barre, PA, she is also survived by a brother, Vincent of Wilkes-Barre, PA, and a sister, Anna Donovan of Montrose, PA.

The funeral will be Friday, March 11 at 10:00 a.m. at Marywood College in Scranton, followed by interment at the Marywood College Cemetery, on the grounds of Marywood College in Scranton, PA.


Archival Remembrance:

Sister Paulus was in the sixth year of her religious profession when the summons came. She did most of her work as a religious among the children at St. Patrick’s Orphanage, where her loss will be keenly felt. She leaves a large host of mourners in the convent and among her relatives and friends.
