Sister M. Marcellina Beach, IHM

Sister M. Marcellina Beach, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Wednesday, January 26, 1983 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA, after an extended illness.
She was born on September 2, 1900, in Hollidaysburg, PA, and given the name Sarah. She was the daughter of the late Maxwell K. and Anna Davis Beach. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1920, received the religious habit on August 2, 1920, and made profession of her vows on August 15, 1922.
Sister Marcellina taught primary and intermediate grades at the following schools: St. Patrick Elementary School in Spangler, PA; St. Charles Borromeo Elementary School in Sugar Notch, PA; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Elementary School in Altoona, PA; St. Mary John School in Cresson, PA; and St. Thomas Regional School in Providence, RI; St. John Elementary School in Susquehanna, PA; St. John the Evangelist School in Pittston; and at schools located in in Williamsport and Lock Haven, PA; and in Manhasset, NY.
Sister Marcellina served as principal at St. John the Evangelist School in Pittston, PA.
As the last living member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Robert George, Ralph, Roy, Raymond Andrew, Earl (infant) and Merrill Joseph; and four sisters, Mary, Grace Hoffman, Cora Snyder, and Sister M. Finian, IHM.
She is survived by a nephew and several nieces, including Sister M. Gillet Beach, IHM.
The funeral will be Saturday, January 29 at 9:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent, with interment to follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Friday afternoon or evening.
