Sister M. Geraldina Fitzgerald, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Monday, August 22, 1955, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Carbondale, PA.
She was born on September 14, 1878 in Stanhope, NJ, and given the name Esther Angela. She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Anna Todd Fitzgerald. She entered the IHM Congregation on January 6, 1909, received the religious habit on April 13, 1909, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1911.
Sister Geraldina was a music teacher at the following schools: St. Leo School in Ashley, PA; St. Joseph School in Renovo, PA; IHM Academy in Coeur d’Alene, ID; Mount Carmel School in Ashbury Park, NJ; and Sacred Heart of Mary School in Jermyn, PA.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, John, William and James, and two sisters, Ella Glynn and Alice McCabe.
She is survived by a sister, Daisy Fitzgerald of Bronx, NY, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Wednesday, August 24 at 10:00 am at St. Catherine’s Church in Moscow, PA. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call on Tuesday at St. Agnes Place in Elmhurst.
