Sister M. Demetria Bode, IHM

Sister M. Demetria Bode, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, June 8, 1948 at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
She was born on June 4, 1898 in Scranton, PA, and given the name Teresa. She was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Ann Loughney Bode. She entered the IHM Congregation on August 15, 1917, received the religious habit on January 3, 1918, and made profession of her vows on December 27, 1919.
Sister Demetria served as a teacher at the following schools: St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Pittston, PA; St. Mary Elementary School in Avoca, PA; and St. Mary Elementary School in Goldsboro, NC.
Sister Demetria was currently serving as principal at St. Patrick Elementary School in White Haven, PA.
She is survived by a brother, Fred, and her twin sister, Isabelle, both of Scranton, PA.
The funeral will be on Wednesday, June 9 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, White Haven, PA. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA.
