Sister Kathryn Gallagher, IHM
April 8, 1916 – March 11, 2003

Sister Kathryn Gallagher, IHM, (formerly known as Sr. M. Gregoria) of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA.
Born on April 8, 1916 in Jessup, PA, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Patrick and Catherine L. Bradley Gallagher. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1933, made temporary profession of her vows on April 24, 1934, and her final profession of vows on April 30, 1936.
Sister Kathryn served as a teacher at the following schools: Most Holy Rosary School in Syracuse, NY; Maria Regina High School in Uniondale, NY; Holy Rosary High School in Scranton, PA, from 1941 to 1953; St, Leo High School in Ashely, PA, from 1955 to 1968; and Bishop Hoban High School in Wilkes-Barre, PA, from 1984 to 1992. She also taught at schools located in Forest Hills, NY.
Sister served as a prayer minister at Annunciation Convent in Kingston, PA, from 1992 to 2000, and the Marian Convent in Scranton, from 2000 until the time of her death.
She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in French from Marywood College, and a Master of Arts in education from Villanova University.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Richard.
She is survived by a sister, Joan Wright of Clarks Summit, PA, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday, March 17 at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent, followed by interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may call on Sunday after 2:00 p.m. at the Marian Convent.
