IHM Sisters Organize Community Health Fair

The inter-professional (Marywood University School of Social Work, Nursing, Physician Assistant, Nutrition & Dietetic and the Wright Center) Community Health Fair in partnership with Friends of the Poor and St. John Neumann parish was held on April 23 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at St. John Neumann Parish in Scranton.

This is the third year that Sister Angela Kim, IHM has planned, organized and facilitated an inter-professional team from the aforementioned organizations. Approximately, one hundred and sixty participants from the Hispanic community took part in the fair.

The health fair was staffed by Marywood University faculty members and students from the School of Social Work, Nursing, Nutrition & Dietetics as well as doctors from the Wright Center, Sister Anne Walsh, IHM from the Friends of Poor, Hispanic community leaders, and volunteers who worked together as a team to provide needed services for the community. The inter-professional team plans to offer the community health fair annually. Next year, mammography screening and a dental care clinic will be added.
