Sensitizing Ourselves to Unconscious Racial
Forty-three members of the Oblate Sisters of Providence and the three IHM Congregations met at Mount Providence Motherhouse in Baltimore for the 2019 OSP IHM Healing Racism Workshop: Claiming Our Racial Narrative: Sensitizing Ourselves to Unconscious Racial Attitudes Personally and Institutionally. Sister Anita Baird, DHM, recipient of the 2018 LCWR Leadership Award, facilitated the workshop and challenged us to action.
A highlight of the workshop was a visit to the African American History Museum in Washington DC.
Sister Mary Vandergeest, OSF, attended the workshop as special guest. She is exploring establishing a racism committee in her congregation.
