Sister M. Joan Scott, IHM
Sister M. Joan Scott, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Wednesday, December 1, 1920.
She was born on May 3, 1862 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and given the name Mary A. She was the daughter of John B. and Mary Slavin Scott. She entered the IHM Congregation on July 2, 1903, received the religious habit on December 31, 1903, and made profession of her vows on December 28, 1905.
Sister Joan served as a teacher at St. Cecilia School in Exeter, PA.
Interment will follow the Mass of Christian Burial at the Marywood College Cemetery, on the grounds of Marywood College in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

"Death came swiftly to Sister M. Joan Scott, who died December 1, 1920, after an illness of only a few hours' duration. It was the kind of death this holy soul had prayed for. Sister Joan's religious life had been spent at Saint Cecilia's, Wyoming. She was an ideal primary teacher and had securely set the feet of hundreds of little ones in the way of justice."
