She was born on March 22, 1920 in Brooklyn, New York; and was the daughter of the late Patrick and Bridget Carroll Smyth. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1939 made her temporary profession of vows on May 8, 1942 and her final profession of vows on August 2, 1945.

Sister Timothy served as a teacher at the following local schools: Holy Rosary Elementary School, Scranton, from 1949 to 1953; and St. Patrick High School, Scranton, from 1961 to 1963.

She served as principal and teacher at schools located in Pittsburgh, Lock Haven, and East Stroudsburg, PA; Staten Island, Forest Hills, and Brooklyn, NY; Wilmington, DE; Coeur d'Alene; ID and Portland, OR.

She earned a Bachelor of Music degree, a Master of Science degree in religious education, both from Marywood College, and a Bachelor of Science degree in administration from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.

She was preceded in death by two brothers Edward and John; and eight sisters, Sister Joseph Veronica, CSJ, Sister Edward Patrice, CSJ, Helen, Veronica, Anne, Mary Smyth, Sarah Loubriel, and Kathleen O'Loughlin.

She is survived by three nieces, Regina Werder of FL; Marie Harrison of NJ; Mary O'Donnell of NY; a nephew James Loubriel of CA; and several great nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Friday, August 29, at 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent, followed by internment at St. Catherine Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Thursday, August 28 after 2:00 p.m.
