Sister M. Florita Waters, IHM

Sister M. Florita Waters, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Scranton, Pennsylvania, died on Saturday, November 5, 1988, after an illness. 

Daughter of the late Edward and Sarah Ann Doyle Waters, she was born on October 5, 1905 in New York.  She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1928, received the religious habit on August 15, 1928, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1930.

Sister Florita served as a business teacher at the following schools: St. Alphonsus High School in New York, NY, from 1948 to 1952; Immaculata High School in New York, NY, from 1953 to 1956; St. Rosalia High School in Pittsburgh, PA; as well as several high schools located in Pennsylvania.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Marywood College, and an Master of Science degree in education from Duquesne University.

She is preceded in death by a brother, Bernard.

She is survived by five brothers, Edward of Oyster Bay, NY; John of Garden City, NY; Gerald of Syosset, NY; Peter of Lakewood, NJ; and Claude of Mill Neck, NY; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Robbins of Glen Cove, NY; and Mrs. David Talbot of Point Pleasant, NY; nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be on November 8 with Mass of Christian Burial in the Marian Convent Chapel in Scranton. Interment followed at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania.
