Sister M. Cyrenia Caffrey, IHM

Sister M. Cyrenia Caffrey, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Thursday, February 22, 1968 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Carbondale, Pennsylvania.

She was bon on November 11, 1906 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and given the name Martha.  She was the daughter of the late John and Amy Shattuck Caffrey. She entered the IHM Congregation on August 14, 1923, received the religious habit on December 27, 1923, and made profession of her vows on August 15, 1925.

Sister Cyrenia served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Patrick Elementary School in Oneida, NY; St. Mary Elementary School in Manhasset, NY; St. Mary Elementary School in Patton; All Saints Elementary School in Masontown; St. Joseph Elementary School in Danville; St. Basil Elementary School in Dushore; St. Michael's Industrial School for Boys in Hoban Heights; and Archbishop Neale Elementary School in LaPlata, MD.

She is preceded in death by two aunts in community, Sister M. Columba Caffrey, IHM, and Sister M. Nepomunce Caffrey, IHM.

She is surived by an aunt, Sister Mary Cyrenia Caffrey, IHM of Philadelphia, PA, and cousins.

Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
