Sister Mary Alonzo Ryan, IHM
Sister Mary Alonzo Ryan, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Saturday, September 27, 1952 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Carbondale, PA.
Daughter of the late Patrick and Mary Ellen Reddon Ryan, she was born on June 26, 1888 in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania; and given the name Theresa. She entered the IHM Congregation on March 25, 1909, received the religious habit on December 29, 1909, and made profession of her vows on December 27, 1911.
Sister Mary Alonzo served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Alphonsus School in New York, NY; Our Lady Queen of Martyrs School in Forest Hills, NY; St. Rose School in Carbondale, PA; and St. Peter of Alcantara School in Port Washington, NY. She retired to St. Agnes Place in Elmhurst, and served as prayer minister.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes.
She is survived by a sister, Nora of Susquehanna.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 30 at 10:00 am at St. Catherine's Church in Moscow. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery.

"Long Sickness Fatal to Sister Mary Alonzo
Sister Mary Alonzo, a member of the Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Order, died Saturday night in St. Joseph's Hospital, Carbondale, where she had been a patient several months.
A daughter of the late Patrick and Mary Reddon Ryan, Susquehanna, she eneterd the novitiate at Mount St. Mary's, now Marywood College, in 1909, and received her religious habit in December of the same year. She was admitted to profession in 1911.
During her years in religious life, Sister Mary Alonzo taught at St. Alphonsus School, New York City; Queen of Martyrs School, Forest Hilly, L.I., N.Y.; St. Rose School, Carbondale, and St. Peter's School, Port Washington, L.I. She had been inactive for the past several years.
A sister, Miss Nora Ryan, Susquehanna, is the only immediate survior.
The funeral will be tomorrow from St. Agnes Place, Elmhurst, with mass at 10 in St. Catherine's Church, Moscow. Burial, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow."
