Sister M. Helena Diskin, IHM

Sister M. Helena Diskin, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Monday, July 13, 1953.

She was born on August 12, 1873 in Birmingham, England, and given the name Catherine. She was the daugther of the late Patrick and Sarah Costello Diskin.  The family immigrated to the United States before 1876, and settled in Scranton, Pennsylvania. She entered the IHM Congregation on April 30, 1902, received the religious habit on July 31, 1902, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1904.

She is preceded in death by two sisters, Sister M. Anthanasius, IHM, and Sister M. Antoinette, IHM.

She is survived by a brother, John of Scranton, PA, nieces and nephews.

Interment is at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery in Carbondale, Pennsylvania.
