Sister M. Perpetua Little, IHM

Sister M. Perpetua Little, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Friday, October 31, 2003 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on May 3, 1919 in Brooklyn, NY, and given the name Muriel. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary Louise Keyes Little.  She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1940,made her temporary profession of vows on May 10, 1943, and her final profession of vows on August 1, 1946.

Sister Perpetua served as a teacher at the following local schools: St. Mary Elementary School in Avoca, PA, from 1943 to 1944; St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Pittston, PA, from 1966 to 1976; and St. Patrick Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1976 to 1992. In the intervening years, she also taught at the following schools: St. Ambrose Elementary School in Bridgeport, CT; St. Ann Elementary School in Devon, CT; St. Ann Elementary School in Nyack, NY; as well as at schools located in Forest Hills, NY, and Pittsburgh, PA.

From 1992 until the time of her death, Sister Perpetua served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent. 

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Marywood College.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Lawrence, and a sister, Veronica Kolb.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ann Little, Deer Park, NY, several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Tuesday, November 4, at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent followed by interment at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.  Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Monday, November 3, between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
