Sister M. Rosalita Smith, IHM

Sister M. Rosalita Smith, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on November 24, 1973 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth Burns Smith, she was born on June 30, 1894 in Saratoga Springs, NY; and given the name Mary.  She entered the IHM Congregation on March 25, 1914, received the religious habit on August 2, 1914, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1916.

Sister Rosalita served as an elementary teacher in the following schools: St. Leo in Ashley; St. Andrew in Portland, OR; St. Lawrence in Portland, OR; IHM Academy in Coeur d'Alene, ID; St. Bernard in Hastings; St. John in Pittston; St. Peter (Cathedral) in Scranton; St. Joseph in Williamsport; St. Raymond in Lynbrook, NY; and St. Patrick in Oneida, NY.

Interment will follow the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
