Sister M. Carmelina Fabbri, IHM

Sister M. Carmelina Fabbri, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died on Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at the Marian Convent, Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on November 15, 1917 in Masontown, Pennsylvania, and given the name Flora. She was the daughter of the late Teopisto and Dusolina Bandini Fabbri. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1936, made temporary profession of her vows on August 2, 1938, and final profession of her vows on August 2, 1941.

Sister Carmelina served as a teacher at the following schools: Father Costello's Nursery School in Williamsport, PA, from 1945 to 1947; St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School in Archbald, PA, from 1967 to 1969; Our Lady of Mount Carmel Elementary School in Altoona, PA; St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Bellefonte, PA; St. Mary John Elementary School in Cresson, PA; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Elementary School in Asbury Park, NJ; Most Holy Rosary Elementary School in Syracuse, NY; St. Rita Elementary School in Baltimore, MD; as well as at elementary schools located in  Pittsburgh, PA, and Brooklyn, NY.

Sister Carmelina served as a catechetical instructor at the follwoing: St. Ignatius Parish in Kingston, PA, from 1952 to 1954; St. Bernard's Catechetical Center in Hastings, PA; St. Ann's Catechetical Center in  Devon, CT; St. John the Evangelist Catechetical Center in Binghamton, NY; and Our Lady of Good Counsel Catechetical Center in Inwood, NY.

She also served as the receptionist at the IHM Center in Scranton, PA, from 1985 to 1986.

From 1986 until the time of her death, Sister Carmelina served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Marywood College.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis J. and Monsignor Joseph.

She is survived by a sister, Mary Ann Mojock of Masontown, PA, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. 

The funeral will be on Friday, July 9 at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent followed by interment at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, PA.  Friends may call on Thursday afternoon, between 2:00 and 4:00 pm at the Marian Convent.
