Sister M. St. Margaret Montague, IHM
Sister M. St. Margaret Montague, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Friday, December 22, 1961 at St. Joseph's Convent in Carbondale, Pennsylvania.
She was born on December 28, 1902 in New York, New York, and given the name Margaret Mary. She was the daughter of the late Terrance and Elizabeth Finnegan Montague. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1926, received the religious habit on December 29, 1926, and made profession of her vows on January 2, 1929.
Sister St. Margaret served as a teacher at the following schools: St. John the Evangelist High School in Pittston, PA, from 1926 to 1927 and 1936 to 1937; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel High School in Altoona, PA, from 1929 to 1932 and 1932 to 1933; St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay, NY, in 1932; Sacred Heart High School in La Plata, MD, from 1933 to 1936; Marywood Seminary in Scranton, PA, from 1937 to 1943; St. Patrick High School in Olyphant, PA, from 1952 to 1953; Holy Rosary High School in Scranton, PA, from 1953 to 1954; St. Agnes Elementary School in Baltimore, MD, from 1954 to 1955; and St. Rose Elementary School in Carbondale, PA, from 1956 to 1957.
She served as a catechetical instructor at St. Hugh's Catechetical Center in Hughesville, PA, in 1949; and St. Ann's Catechetical Center in Devon, CT, in 1954.
Sister St. Margaret also served as librarian at the following: Sacred Heart Elementary School in Mt. Holly, in 1943; Most Holy Rosary School in Syracuse, NY, from 1943 to 1949; Nativity School in Scranton, from 1949 to 1952; St. Patrick School in Olyphant, PA, from 1952 to 1953; Holy Rosary School in Scranton, PA, from 1953 to 1954; and St. Joseph's Hospital in Carbondale, PA, from 1957 to 1961.
She is preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann and Catherine, and three brothers, Patrick, Peter, and Andrew.
She is survived by a brother, Terrance of NY, nieces and nephews.
Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.

Archival Remembrance:
All but a few years of Sister M. St. Margaret's life were spent at Marywood; it was the only home she knew well, and all who knew her testify to how dearly she loved it. The seminary and the college were the meccas to which she naturally tended.
God gave to Sister M. St. Margaret many gifts of nature and of grace. These gifts she generously used for His service. She was a tireless worker, never wearying in her ordinary class work and always ready to spend herself in extra-curricular activities. Her last assignment was to St. Joseph's Hospital, Carbondale, where she labored in the hospital library. Ill health had been her companion for many years, but she fought bravely. Her sparkling eyes always displayed her love for people and her eagerness to help them. May God reward abundantly Sister M. St. Margaret who served our Community so happily and so generously.
