Sister M. Doris Caffrey, IHM

Sister M. Doris Caffrey, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, September 16, 1975 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on March 17, 1915 in Childs, Pennsylvania, and given the name Catherine.  She was the daughter of the late Harry and Bridget Collins Caffrey.  She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1933, received the religious habit on April 24, 1934, and made profession of her vows on April 30, 1936.

Sister Doris served as a teacher in the following schools: St. Alphonsus School in New York City, NY; St. Patrick School in Scranton, PA; St. Ann School in Scranton, PA; Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary School in New York City, NY; St. Joseph School in Williamsport, PA; and Holy Rosary School in Scranton, PA.  

From 1970 until the time of her death, Sister Doris served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She is survived by a brother, John of Scranton, PA.

Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
