Sister Kathryn Gallagher, IHM

Sister Kathryn Gallagher, IHM, (formerly known as Sr. M. Gregoria) of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on April 8, 1916 in Jessup, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late Dr. Patrick and Catherine L. Bradley Gallagher. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1933, made temporary profession of her vows on April 24, 1934, and her final profession of vows on April 30, 1936.

Sister Kathryn served as a teacher at the following schools: Holy Rosary High School in Scranton, PA, from 1941 to 1953; St, Leo High School in Ashely, PA, from 1955 to 1968; Bishop Hoban High School in Wilkes-Barre, PA, from 1984 to 1992; Most Holy Rosary School in Syracuse, NY; and Maria Regina High School in Uniondale, NY; and at schools located in Forest Hills, NY.

Sister served as a prayer minister at Annunciation Convent in Kingston, PA, from 1992 to 2000, and at the Marian Convent from 2000 until the time of her death.

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in French from Marywood College, and a Master of Arts in education from Villanova University.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Richard.

She is survived by a sister, Joan Wright of Clarks Summit, PA, nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Monday, March 17 at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent, followed by interment at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Sunday after 2:00 p.m.
