Sister Patricia Schaefer, IHM

Sister Patricia Schaefer, IHM, formerly known as Sister Christine Marie of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Monday, July 4, 1977, at Most Holy Rosary Convent in Syracuse, NY.

She was born on January 10, 1945 in Pittsburgh, PA, and given the name Patricia Anne. She was the daughter of James Otto and Agnes Stack Schaefer.  She entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on September 8, 1963, and professed her vows in on June 27, 1966.

Sister Patricia served as a teacher in the areas of science, math, and religion at the IHM Academy in Coeur d’Alene, ID, from 1968 to 1971; and at Most Holy Rosary School in Syracuse, NY, from 1971 until the time of her death.

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry from Marywood College.

She was a member of the National Science Teachers’ Association.

In addition to her parents, she is also survived by three brothers, James, Mark and Paul; a sister, Christine; an aunt in community, Sister Virginia Mary Schaefer, IHM; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Interment will be on Thursday, July 7, at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, PA.
