Sister M. Laura Lavezzo, IHM

Sister M. Laura Lavezzo, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Saturday, March 18, 1972 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on June 25, 1895 in New York, NY, and given the name Anna. She was the daughter of the late Peter (Pietro) and Angela Cuneo Lavezzo.  She entered the IHM Congregation on May 5, 1919, received the religious habit on December 27, 1919, and made profession of her vows on December 29, 1921.

Sister Laura served in child care for the resident boys at St. Michael's Industrial School for Boys in Hoban Heights (near Tunkhannock), Pennsylvania, from 1922 to 1957.

From 1958 until the time of her death, she served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony.

Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
