Sister M. Bonaventura Pryle, IHM

Sister M. Bonaventura Pryle, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Wednesday, December 21, 1966 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on October 7, 1900 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and given the name Kathleen. She was the daughter of the late Martin J. and Bridget Hughes Pryle, and the step-daughter of the late Margaret Kearney Pryle. She entered the IHM Congregation on August 15, 1918, received the religious habit on August 2, 1919, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1921.

Sister Bonaventura served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Alphonsus School in New York, NY, from 1921 to 1924; St. Paul School in Scranton, PA, from 1924 to 1928; St. Mary Elementary School in Avoca, PA, from 1928 to 1940; St. Ann School in Scranton, PA, from 1940 to 1947; St. Rose School in Carbondale, PA, from 1947 to 1952; St. Patrick School in Olyphant, PA, from 1942 to 1956; St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Elementary School in Dunmore, PA, from 1956 to 1958; St. Joseph School in Danville, PA, from 1958 to 1959; and St. Dominic School in Oyster Bay, NY, from 1959 to 1966.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Martin A., John J., and Joseph P., and three sisters, Margaret, Mary C. Walsh, and Ruth Caffrey.

She is survived by a brother Andrew J. of of Peckville, PA, nieces and nephews.

Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
