Sister M. Geralda McNamee, IHM

Sister M. Geralda McNamee, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Friday, November 28, 2003 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on November 30, 1917 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and given the name Genevieve Agatha. She was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Anna W. Roscoe McNamee. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1936, made her temporary profession of vows on May 8, 1939, and her final profession of vows on August 2, 1942.

Sister Geralda served as a teacher the following schools: St. Mary Elementary School in Patton, PA; St. Mary Elementary School in Hollidaysburg, PA; St. Mary John School in Cresson, PA; St. Paul School in Cranston, RI; Holy Trinity School in Poughkeepsie, NY; as well as at schools located in Lock Haven and Pittsburgh, PA; and Washington, NC.

From 2002 until the time of her death, Sister Geralda served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Marywood College, and a Master of Education degree from Duquesne University.

She is survived by a brother, Joseph of Monroeville, PA, a sister, Eleanor Rasch of Corona, CA, nephews and nieces.

The funeral will be Tuesday, December 2 at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent followed by interment at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.  Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Monday afternoon between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
