Sister Margaret Mary Howley, IHM

Sister Margaret Mary Howley, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Monday, September 30, 1968 at the Marian Covent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on March 30, 1889 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and given the name Helen Immaculate.  She was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Kelly Howley. She entered the IHM Congregation on March 25, 1910, received the religious habit on August 2, 1913, and made profession of her vows on July 6, 1915.

Sister Margaret Mary served as a home economics teacher at Marywood College in Scranton, PA, from 1915 to 1968.

She earned a Bachelor's degree in home economics from Marywood College.

She is preceded in death by a brother, Michael, and two sisters, Loretta and Mary E.

She is survived by three sisters, Sister Mary Damian, IHM, of the Marian Convent, Scranton, PA, Elizabeth of Scranton, PA, and Margaret Kathleen MacDonald of Moscow, PA, a niece and a nephew.

Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
