Sister M. Emelia Bigley, IHM

Sister M. Emelia Bigley, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Thursday, February 15, 1940.

She was born on March 11, 1858 in Summit Hill, Pennsylvania, and given the name Elizabeth.  She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Mary Friel Bigley.  She entered the IHM Congregation on May 27, 1887, received the religious habit on October 4, 1887, and made profession of her vows on April 8, 1890.

She is preceded in death by two sisters Bridget and Mary, and three brothers, John Ambrose, Charles Francis and Patrick.

She is survived by a sister Margaret Smith of Philadelphia, PA, nieces and nephews.

Interment is at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery in Carbondale, Pennsylvania.
